Activities

Here at Holmwood we provide a fantastic range of activities for your enjoyment and we are proud to announce that we have recently been shortlisted and given a commendation award in the "Out and About" Category and this was presented by the dignity and safeguarding team at Suffolk County Council.

Holmwood employs two activities coordinator whose job is to ensure that we provide a wide range of activities for your continued enjoyment. Each person who lives at Holmwood will have their activities preferences and abilities recorded in their individual assessment and this will help the staff to ensure that we accommodate your individual needs and wishes. This document will also be regularly reviewed with you and your family. Activities are arranged in groups or one to one sessions, dependent upon your preference. Residents are informed of forthcoming schedules via the "what's on calendar" and the schedule is also posted on the back of your bedroom door. Forthcoming activities will also be posted on our website (click here to see what's on) The types of activities are decided by the residents of Holmwood at the residents association meetings and via satisfaction surveys.

We also supply a regular newsletter to residents of Holmwood and their families and friends and information gathered from our outings and activities is recorded in these newsletters.

Our range of activities varies from regular weekly sessions such as armchair exercises, art class, crosswords, scrabble, word games, church services to craft making sessions. In addition to this have, we have many ad hoc sessions, outside entertainers, garden fete, boat trips on the broads, Christmas cocktail party, staff nativity, visiting pantomime, our very own Santa's grotto containing an alpine village, bell ringers, choirs, fashion sales, quiz nights, bingo sessions, firework extravaganza, visits to the coast, zoo, theatre and not forgetting our annual sports day.

Holmwood is very lucky to own its own beach hut at Southwold and this is for use by the residents and families. A light picnic lunch can be provided for you to take with you and if you would like to book the beach hut please speak with the office staff here at Holmwood.

We have various services that visit Holmwood and you can avail yourself of these services as you wish, hairdresser (weekly), library service (monthly). Chiropody (six weekly).

Ensuring that you have plenty of wonderful things to do whilst you live at Holmwood is our commitment to you and we believe that remaining as active as possible is key to promoting good health.
